Emerson Crane Hire has fully embraced the demands the London Olympics bring to the crane hire industry in the UK. We have deployed much of our cranes,  lorries, plant and machinery inventory to successful construction operations in and around the London and Stratford sites where the Olympic venues and facilities are to be held including the Olympic villiage.

We have also had to recruit heavily for the additional work, bringing in additional riggers, slingers, signallers and lifting equipment operators from all over the UK, and offering additional crane operation training at our Essex/ East London Depot.

Our technical team are one of the most experienced in the Crane Hire industry in the UK, and have been crucial to our participation in providing services to the London Olympics, where scheduling is tight, planning and lifting operations result in a successful job first time, every time and on time.

We have also purchased additional cranes to meet  the demands and scale of the London Olympic construction, mainly in the general and heavy crane section.

Emerson have been quick to deploy crane operators and site personnel  from our Essex/East London depot for crane hired in the London areas where the Olympic events are to take place

Some of our successful crane lifts and operations at the Olympic Stadium, central London. We were involved with:

Steel erection, portable cabin accommodation, portable offices, lifting concrete sections, installation of the Olympic headquarters offices and Athletes accommodation sections, unloading general materials for the construction of the Olympic swimming pool, supplying crane mats, skips, block grabs, chains slings, lifting and spreader beams.

The Olympic Stadium contractors and Sub Contractors who hired Emerson Crane Hire were supplied with highly trained, skilled, competent and site inducted personnel, these included crane drivers, lorry drivers, Hiab drivers, appointed persons, lift supervisors, slingers, signallers, all of whom were trained at the Emerson Crane Hire in house training school at our main depot in Dagenham, Essex/East London. From time to time during the duration of the construction of the Olympic Stadium, swimming pool and the Olympic village Emerson would send to site our Inspector to examine and certify all the lifting chains, webbing slings, lifting beams, spreader beams that were either on hire to Olympic Contractors or in use with Emerson’s own personnel or cranes. Emerson Crane Hire Limited were heavily involved and had multiple cranes employed on behalf of Balfour Beatty at the Aquatics Centre in Stratford east London, whilst on hire at the Olympic Aquatics centre Emerson were involved with the following tasks.

• Steel erection

Emerson were the preferred supplier for cranes, lorries, HIABS and labour for the Olympics by MGJV – Building and installing the water main for Olympics sites.

Emerson Crane Hire were employed at the Olympics Beach Volley Ball at Horse Guards Parade, London right next to Downing Street the Houses of Parliment and Buckingham Palace, Emerson were involved with the installation of
